Taiho Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. has received marketing authorization for its oral fluoropyrimidine anticancer agent, TS-1 20mg and 25mg capsules, in Singapore. The anticancer agent developed by Taiho is currently sold in Japan, South Korea and China.

TS-1 has been approved in Singapore for postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy for gastric cancer, and is scheduled to be sold as "TS-ONE" starting this August by local partner Pharmaforte Singapore Pte. Ltd.

TS-1 has a wide variety of indications and has been available in Japan since 1999, extending the lives of numerous patients. It is used for the treatment of gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, head and neck cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, inoperable or recurrent breast cancer, pancreas and biliary tract cancers. For gastric cancer, TS-1 has become the standard chemotherapy.

Pharmaforte has already received numerous inquiries and expectations of early launch from cancer centers in Singapore. With the number of clinical trial facilities located there, the approval of TS-1 is expected to be a major boon for Asia-based chemotherapy research.
