Taiho Pharmaceutical has established an ultra-reliable, industry-leading quality assurance system, leveraging the know-how it has amassed thus far in the production of anticancer agents, which carry the strictest requirements from medical care professionals. Moreover, opinions from medical settings where patients actually use the company's pharmaceuticals are fed back to the production, commercialization research, and sales divisions as part of their sharing of information. The company then puts effort into improving its technologies in order to rapidly respond to the needs ascertained from this feedback. Going forward, Taiho will continue striving to establish even more reliable systems and further improve its technologies so as to always provide a stable supply of the highest quality medicines for patients.
Manufacturing safe, reliable products under
world-class quality assurance systems
Taiho Pharmaceutical has four plants, located in Okayama, Saitama, Inuyama, and lastly Tokushima, which is its main plant. These plants manufacture prescription drugs and OTC products under the company's strict quality control standards while cooperating with one another to streamline production processes. Extremely reliable quality controls are in place, especially for the anticancer agents, which are produced in a dedicated clean facility outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment. The supply of much-needed pharmaceuticals must always be kept stable. For that reason, the company has established production systems that can adapt flexibly and storage systems designed with natural disasters and other contingencies in mind.
All of Taiho's plants strictly adhere to good manufacturing practice (GMP) standards. On top of this, the Tokushima and Saitama plants have passed US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) inspection, and the Tokushima Plant has also passed inspection by European Union (EU) regulatory authorities. By passing these rigorous hurdles, the company's production plants have met international standards. What is more, the company is giving priority to environmental protection as a good corporate citizen, and its plants have obtained ISO 14001 certification, the international standard for environmental management.
Tokushima Plant
The Tokushima Plant consists of 10 manufacturing facilities. It manufactures pharmaceuticals and quasi-drugs in a variety of formulations, including tablets, capsules, granules, injections, and drinks.
Okayama plant
The Okayama Plant manufactures the Tiovita series.
Saitama plant
The Saitama Plant manufactures bulk drugs (the active ingredients for the TS-1, UFT, and IPD).
Inuyama plant
The Inuyama Plant mainly manufactures crude drugs for the Harncare line of incontinence products.
