Taiho Pharmaceutical to Support the Pink Ribbon Campaign Again in 2018

In 2018, Taiho Pharmaceutical is once again supporting the Pink Ribbon campaign to promote a greater understanding of breast cancer and raise awareness of the importance of its early detection, diagnosis and treatment.

Every year during breast cancer awareness month in October, various events are held worldwide, including in Europe and the U.S. Among other initiatives, Taiho Pharmaceutical sponsors the annual Pink Ribbon Festival co-organized by the Japan Cancer Society.

The incidence of breast cancer is increasing in Japan. It is estimated that around 90,000 Japanese women developed breast cancer in 2017.*1 Taiho Pharmaceutical is continuing to provide information for patients on the website, All About Breast Cancer Info,*2 in order to promote early detection of breast cancer and to encourage patients to face breast cancer with optimism.

Taiho Pharmaceutical will continue striving to improve human health and contribute to a society enriched by smiles.

About the Pink Ribbon Festival

This year will be the 16th year of the Pink Ribbon Festival, which has been carried out around Japan by the Japan Cancer Society and other organizations since 2003 to convey the importance of breast cancer exams and to support patients. It aims to increase the rate of breast cancer screening and to conduct activities that support patients and people around them so as to reduce the death rate from breast cancer as much as possible.

Since 2007, Taiho Pharmaceutical has set up a booth at the Pink Ribbon Symposium where it provides visitors with pamphlets and other information to promote early detection of various cancers, including breast cancer.
