Taiho Pharmaceutical Launches Harncare Bearberry Tablets ー Helping to Improve the Discomfort When Urinating and Sensation of Residual Urine
Taiho Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. announced today, it has launched Harncare Bearberry Tablets in pharmacies and drugstores throughout Japan. Harncare Bearberry Tablets, a second-class OTC drug, is an herbal remedy for discomfort when urinating and the sensation of residual urine.
Infection of the lower urinary tract are one of the causes of symptoms such as sensation of residual urine and discomfort or a strange feeling when urinating. These subjective symptoms are overwhelmingly experienced by women, and survey results indicate that the frequency is one in three women.1
Harncare Bearberry Tablets is the first tablet formulation in Japan of the single crude drug, bearberry. It disinfects the urinary tract of those who have discomfort or a sensation of residual urine, and improves those symptoms. It contains the maximum amount of bearberry as an active ingredient in an OTC drug (within the standard for approval to manufacture and sell general-use crude drugs2) as an approach to improve the discomfort when urinating and the sensation of residual urine that tends to occur in repetition.
As a pioneer in OTC drugs for urinary problems, Taiho Pharmaceutical launched Harncare Drink,3 the first OTC drug indicated for mild incontinence at the time of its launch in 2001. The company has now launched Harncare Bearberry Tablets, the first tablet formulation in Japan of the single crude drug, bearberry.
