Taiho Pharmaceutical’s Corporate Philosophy is, “We strive to improve human health and contribute to a society enriched by smiles.” It guides our efforts to grow our business by providing useful pharmaceuticals to treat diseases as well as consumer healthcare products to help people maintain and improve their health. As part of these business activities, Taiho Pharmaceutical complies with the Otsuka Group Global Code of Business Ethics, Human Rights Policy, and Global Anti-Corruption Policy, Policy for Conflict of Interest as well as all relevant laws and regulations. At the same time, we work to prevent bribery and other forms of corruption, as well as human rights and labor standard violations. We also aim to maintain a values-based company that is trusted by society, by practicing highly transparent, fair and open competition, for instance by working to avoid conflicts of interest. Finally, Taiho Pharmaceutical adheres to the Otsuka Group Business Partner Code of Ethics to conduct corporate activities based on high ethical standards, together with its business partners, and practices socially responsible conduct.
We treat compliance as one of our top management priorities. Accordingly, we have established the Compliance Committee, the Global Compliance Committee, and the Compliance Department as organizations overseeing our company-wide compliance activities.
Our onboarding and departmental training sessions include compliance-related education to ensure that the significance and importance of compliance are thoroughly conveyed across the company and within each department. This approach helps to instill compliance as a shared value among both executives and employees.
Taiho Pharmaceutical has established a hotline for employees to report or discuss potential compliance issues. The aim is to help prevent major issues by promoting the early detection and avoidance of scandals that could arise from legal violations or misconduct. The hotline is designed to receive information concerning potential legal violations or issues that could result in public criticism (potential cases of bribery or corruption, as well as human rights violations including discrimination, improper labor practices, and harassment). The identities of all hotline users are kept confidential, along with the details of their hotline conversations, and they are protected from any disadvantageous treatment that could arise in the workplace as a result.
Speak Up Line for our business partners is available to consult with or report any suspected or actual misconduct or violations of laws/regulations by any person associated with Otsuka group.
The purpose of conducting audits and other review activities (hereinafter, referred to as “audits”) is to detect, at an early stage, not only willful legal violations but also cases where issues were overlooked on the frontlines or where issues were found but incorrect measures were taken. The audits help ensure that errors are not repeated, and conducting thorough audits and reviews is one of the key elements of our compliance programs.
