Taiho Pharmaceutical Recognized as White 500 for Outstanding Health and Productivity Management
Taiho Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. announced today that it was recognized on February 20, 2018 as a White 500 company for its wide range of initiatives related to employee health. White 500 is a group of companies with outstanding health and productivity management jointly selected by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and Nippon Kenko Kaigi.
Introduced in 2017, this is the second year of the Certified Health and Productivity Management Organization Recognition Program, which recognizes both large companies and small- and medium-sized enterprises for outstanding efforts in health and productivity management. In 2018, 541 companies were recognized in this category.
In February 2017, Taiho Pharmaceutical released its Health Pledge, which vows to “further enhance workplace environments across our entire organization so that employees can work with even more freedom and energy. We will do this by supporting the physical and mental health of all employees.” The pledge is intended to uphold the company’s corporate philosophy—“We strive to improve human health and contribute to a society enriched by smiles.”
Specific Initiatives
- Taiho Pharmaceutical actively sets dates for employees who are 30 years of age or older to receive complete medical checkups free of charge. The company also provides guidance on post-checkup measures to be taken.
- Taiho Pharmaceutical strives to raise awareness of the importance of mental health and to promote health management across the organization by conducting e-learning courses for all employees and requiring all managing supervisors involved in personnel management to pass qualifying exams on the subject.
- Taiho Pharmaceutical aims to help create a society in which individuals with cancer can participate in society. The company’s work environment is designed to enable those with cancer and other diseases to continue to work while undergoing treatment, and measures to prevent cancer are studied and implemented.
