Taiho Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and Taiho Innovations Ltd. are pleased to announce that, following an expansion of Taiho Innovations’ functions and organization, the company has begun operating under a new structure as of July 1, 2026.

Taiho Innovations, LLC, Taiho Pharmaceutical’s corporate venture capital arm, has worked since its establishment in 2019 to identify and develop drug discovery seeds by making investments in and providing hands-on support for academia and venture companies in Japan. As drug discovery has become increasingly sophisticated and complex in recent years, the timely and appropriate generation of clinical proof of concept (PoC) has become a critical factor, significantly affecting the likelihood of development success, for maximizing the value of promising drug discovery seeds.

Against this backdrop, Taiho Innovations is expanding its functions with the aim of contributing further to the venture ecosystem. Specifically, part of Taiho Pharmaceutical’s early clinical development function will be transferred to Taiho Innovations, which will establish a new contract research function for early-phase clinical trials, serving drug discovery seeds originating from academia and venture companies. By seconding personnel well-versed in this work who possess extensive knowledge, experience, and networks in the industry, the company will build a high-quality support framework.

With these steps, Taiho Innovations is expected to become a uniquely positioned co-creation platform in Japan, combining an early clinical development function with its existing investment and incubation functions. By working with academia and venture companies to rapidly generate Clinical PoC in Japan, which can serve as a springboard for global development, the company will create both medical and business value while maximizing the value of drug discovery seeds and accelerating their commercialization.

In addition, the company is changing its corporate form and name from a limited liability company (LLC) to a joint-stock company (Co.,Ltd). Takahito Okubo has also been appointed President and Representative Director as of July 2.

Taking a diverse range of approaches, Taiho Pharmaceutical and Taiho Innovations will continue to contribute to the advancement of open innovation and the creation of innovative pharmaceuticals.
